COMMON BIOMEDICAL WASTE TREATMENT PLANT at Kerala Enviro Infrastructure Ltd (KEIL),, Ambalamedu, Kochi

Kerala Enviro Infrastructure Ltd (KEIL), the only Hazardous Waste Management Facility in Kerala, is pleased to announce that its newly established COMMON BIOMEDICAL WASTE TREATMENT PLANT at Ambalamedu (inside FACT Cochin Division Campus, Ernakulam) is ready to commence operations.

This facility is built as per the guidelines of Biomedical Waste Management Rules 2016 and supported with financial assistance from the Govt. of Kerala and MOEF&CC. It has all the facilities for collection, transportation, treatment, and scientific disposal of biomedical waste from healthcare facilities of:

  • Modern Medicine, including Dental Care
  • Ayurveda/AYUSH centres
  • Veterinary Hospitals/Clinics
  • Diagnostic Laboratories
  • Domestic Biomedical waste

This facility has also obtained all statutory clearances for starting operations.

The Common Bio-Medical waste Treatment Facility has a capacity to treat 16 Metric tonnes of Bio-medical waste per day. Two numbers rotary incinerators, each having a capacity of 250 kg/hr, two numbers autoclaves of capacity 1000 litre per batch and a Shredder of capacity 350kg/hr were installed for treating the Bio-medical waste. The bio-medical waste is transported from various Health Care Institutions to KEIL in dedicated vehicles.
